Bernini’s Elephant Obelisk, To Ease My African Heart!

As an African girl that loves travelling, I often find myself looking for things that remind me of home, especially elephants. Bernini’s beautiful Elephant Obelisk made me smile. The baby elephant carries a miniature 6th century obelisk on it’s back and is said to show Bernini’s fun loving side and refer to Hannibal’s war elephants which carried tall siege towers across the Alps to attack the Roman empire in 218 BC. Love his little baby face.
