Crust Cafe, Topping Cape Town’s Bree Street!

One of the best things about having my son Eden studying in Cape Town is that I have a lunch buddy when in the city, and we’ve taken to trying a new place every week. He should probably be studying, but I put it down to necessary research.

Our latest find is Crust Cafe at the top of Bree Street. I’d seen the signs, chairs and umbrellas outside, but hadn’t appreciated how lovely the inside is. A beautiful modern layout invites you to make this a spot to work and meet over coffee, or do as we did which is take in the sights and traffic outside in the sunshine.

Eden opted for a burger which was generous and home-made with true Pommes frite. My chicken and avocado salad was renamed a ‘man salad’ when it came on a bed of yellow rice with beans on the side. Spoil! I got to carbo load with a clear conscience on salad, an unusual treat. Flavours are fabulous, all food is prepared fresh daily, staff are divine and my delight was that they offer free deliveries within walking distance. I wish I worked near enough to take them up on that …

Eden, waiting for his burger. Which was AMAZING!

Crust is open Monday – Friday, for breakfast and lunch. tel: 021 422 2222 / 079 919 1669 and email: info@crustcafe.co.za and they’re at 243 Bree Street, corner Bree & Buitensingel
