On Sunday we were treated to a fabulous performance by Civil Twilight at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens! Steven and Andrew McKellar with Richard Wouter make up the trio that are originally from Hout Bay, but headed to the States in a bid to make it big. And these friends-brothers that have been playing together since they were boys, have done just that.
Their sound is distinctive, the range of Steven’s voice mind blowing, and the professional rock star attitude really something to warm the heart. I kept wondering what it must feel like for these local boys to be back at ‘their’ botanical garden in the city they grew up in, playing to a much enthralled and delighted crowd of fans.
This is the stuff that dreams are made of, and I wish them all that is wonderful. I’m just sorry I don’t get to see them again at Assembly tonight where they will be supported by aKing playing an acoustic set … Next time.
For now, having heard a couple of the new songs, I await with much anticipation the release of their second album. And their next tour.
Cool looking seriously talented drummer Richard Wouter.
Steven and Andrew jamming, these brothers have been doing this for years!
