Made the flight from Cape Town to Dubai with Emirates and from there direct to Rome. Highly recommend Emirates www.emirates.co.za. The lay over is exhausting so wouldn’t delay if the schedule allows. Dubai Airport is a busy, noisy, frenetic place abuzz with tired people from all over the world. For us the journey from home to destination took 25 hours. Worse heading back as we have a 10 hour wait at the airport. Thankfully the following facilities are available – free showers, comfy chairs to nap on and for a reasonable fee private lounges and a hotel that offers rooms by the hour. (haha) Never thought I’d want to rent on that basis but here we go …. Plane itself seems more spacious and at night the ceiling lights up to look like the stars. I like that ♥ Gate 219 to ROMA!
