Mandela – With our hearts all but broken by the passing of our beloved Tata Madiba on Thursday 5 December, this has been a week of quiet contemplation and mourning for South Africans and people around the world.

A man who led with love and reminded us that we can believe. I honour him with gratitude for his gracious example. For giving us a country that we can be proud of, that we will fight for.

Today the country came to a standstill as we said our final goodbye and tribute to Madiba and he was laid to rest in Qunu. My condolences to the wonderful Graca Machel and Mandela family who have shared him with us all these years.

I wrote this a few months back and wanted to share it again in case you never saw it. "The Day I Met Mandela“ – as I was one of the many ordinary people who’s life he touched and changed. I am forever grateful.

Rest now beloved Tata. You live forever in my heart. May we each find the Mandela within and honor your great memory daily.

This song by U2 from the recently released Long Walk to Freedom movie brought some solace and captured my mood. Nothing is Ordinary about the unselfish act of Love for all.
