My hope of joining Greenpop for their annual Trees of Zambia planting project will not be realised this year, given my trip to Vietnam and a visit to Kruger. That said, I can support, love and encourage them from here. As well as promote the inspiring work that they do. For a start by providing the following information on their Forest in Focus screening at the Labia later this week.

Forest in Focus, an event fusing activism and culture, arts and environmentalism is the first of its kind for Greenpop. Opening on Thursday June 6th, offering a great opportunity for people to join in the global celebration of World Environment Day which falls the day before, an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and widest celebrated event for positive environmental action.

The showing will take place at South Africa’s oldest Independent cinema, the Labia Theatre, on June 6th, 9th and 11th 2013. All funds raised from Forest in Focus will go towards supporting Greenpop’s Trees for Zambia Action Event. A taste of offering as follows:

Thursday 6th June – Musical performance by: Kyla & Zolani (of Freshlyground) – Screenings of UNFF Forests for People Short film award winners. Sunday 9th June – Musical performance by: Ronan Skillen. He plays a fusion of tabla, percussion and didgeridoo by means of a hybrid percussion kit. – Screenings of UNFF Forests for People Short film award winners Tuesday 11th June – Musical performance by: TouchWood – Screenings of UNFF Forests for People Short film award winners

You can pre buy tickets @ R50 each from NuTicket or at the door, for an extra inform contact at Filippa@greenpop.org. Oh and if you can’t make the above, you could always gift a tree. The world needs them, we all do!
