So until now I’ve owned Rhino

In 2003 whilst travelling with a client in Northern KwaZulu Natal, staying at White Elephant Safari Lodge, and fly-fishing on Lake Jozini (isn’t life wonderful!!!) we made a decision to buy and house some rescue rhino. Bradford Mills from Princeton, special friend and client, was looking for an investment in South Africa, Dr Heinz Kohrs of White Elephant Lodge, Pongola Game Reserve, was happy to provide a safe home for the rhino, and I was willing and excited to be a small part of the project.

At the time our investment was in a white rhino mommy, pregnant, and a young calf. Now seven years later we have a family of four and Brad and I have decided to sell our shares to Heinz and in so insure their safe stay on his reserve.

This afternoon I fly to Durban and from there drive North to White Elephant Lodge where I will be lucky enough to spend a couple of nights. During this time Heinz and I will tie up the loose ends of the transaction, and I will hopefully catch a glimpse of the rhino that I have had such a kick out of owning. White Elephant Lodge is one of my absolute favourites, there’ll be game drives and boat trips on Lake Jozini and scrummy food, and I will post fresh pics and more info on my return. Till then get a taste at www.whiteelephant.co.za
