This crocodile skull lives on the the bar counter at my friends Anton and Emma Robert’s Umkhumbi Lodge near Hluhluwe, where I hav ejust had the great pleasure of visiting. I will write more on the property – it deserves that – such a special spot. Crocs are scary creatures, with the head making up one seventh of the body length. You will note how porous the skull is, this to accommodate the millions of little blood vessels that flow through the head. Terrifying really, and I wouldn’t be getting this close to a live one …..
