Travel from Cape Town to Bangkok was easy with flights generously sponsored by Singapore Air. Boarding in Cape Town, the stop down in Johannesburg goes by really quickly. As it’s a day flight, the quick connection allows you to check emails and do some last-minute things before the long stretch to Singapore’s Changi Airport for my connection to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Arrival is at about 8.30 am which means your first day becomes a full day. Joining the Thailand Green Mega Fam Trip group, we were transferred to the Bangkok Pathumwan PrincessHotelmy beautiful Five Star home for the night.

There’s also Ping’s Teochew and Seafood Restaurant and Ping’s Hotpot which offer traditional Chinese-Thai dishes. My favourite area was found on the 8th floor at the Olympic Club with its 25 meters long swimming pool, two Jacuzzis and Desheli Spa. This is where you find the Loop Italian Restaurant Terrace and Bar too. A perfect retreat for a drink after dinner, with the lanterns in the trees and the city lights flickering beyond.
About the area
Over and above the MBK shopping complex which you can access from the hotel lobby, you also have Siam Square, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon and Central World Plaza within walking distance. The BTS Skytrain offers easy access to most of Bangkok and can be taken from across the road, plus there are easy connections to the MRT Subway and Airport Express Train.
Something that matters greatly, especially if you’re working as you go, is the free daily high-speed wifi of 20Mbps for up to 4 devices included in the room rate. A convenient necessity. Bear the Princess in mind when planning your visit to Bangkok, even if it’s just for a night or two of shopping and relaxing before heading home, she’ll take good care of you.
