Botswana. – The plains zebra, also known as the common zebra or Burchell’s zebra – named after the British explorer and naturalist William John Burchell – is the most common and geographically ranges from the south of Ethiopia through East Africa to as far south as Botswana and eastern South Africa. This one in Moremi Game reserve.

Distinguishable features include a health mane that stands straight up, stripes that go around the body and all the way down the legs. A black muzzle and perception of chubbiness. You never see a thin zebra, unless of course they are ill. Also specific to this sub-species, the shadow stripe.
