On a trip to Italy whilst driving from Rome to Carpi where we are based for a week, we passed through Tuscany and Florence. We took a few hours out and visited Florence to seek out The Duomo and Michelangelo’s David. When arriving in this incredibly characterful city, it is not difficult to find the Duomo which rises from the heart of the city. Santa Maria de Fiore and it’s orange tiled dome have become the city’s most famous symbol and may date back to as early as the 4th century. It’s almost too big to photograph and I found myself taking in segments of it bit by bit, in awe of the size and grandeur.
I was so pleased to have returned the following year for more time.
