Singapore. – A new look at urban Hotel stays with Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore. Its fresh, contemporary approach was matched only by the view from the window seat in my 17th floor room …

Jen is a cyber persona sweetheart who welcomes you in the first person, with post it notes on the mirror and treats in the fridge. My room offered a fantastic bed, crisp linen, endless views, a minibar with treats on offer, great bathroom, consideration to the environment and unlimited access to wifi.
Jen is a big fan of natural light and space and follows the ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’ philosophy. They do also offer Deluxe Rooms and Premier Panorama Rooms, which are large, understated and impressive.
A great touch is the PressReader which offers over 2500 online newspapers and magazines from which to select and download for your follow on journey.
But the highlight at Jen’s Orchard Gateway has got to be the warm and welcoming pool on the 19th floor.

For meals a fusion of multicultural flavours and global delicacies are available in the brightly lit and laid out Makan@Jen restaurant. I loved the option at breakfast of grabbing a take away coffee, piece of fruit and pastry if you haven’t got time for a seated breakfast. I wish more hotels offered this.
There’s an OnTheGo deli counter in the lobby and 24-hour room service. Even vending machines on each floor if you just need to slip out for a chocolate or uncomplicated late night snack.
Lounge@Jen on the 10th floor near reception and BayWatch@Jen next to the pool deck offer coffees and light meals throughout the day. At sundowner time the mixologist offers a Jen-style cocktail with canapés which is rather hard to resist.
With the heart of the city’s shopping just outside the front door, it is important to have a place to rest and relaxation. The rooms are good for this but if you need to get rid of some tension the poolside cabana massages and 24-hour fitness centre will do the trick.
Another thing that Jen does is offer you the first load of laundry at a reduced price, just to get you organised. There are bicycles you can take out and the best idea, if your battery is running low leave it on charge while you check in or have a meal, these boxes are found throughout the hotel. Also water in big glass dispensers, in a bid to eliminate bottle usage.

Trolleys and Bicycles, brand Jen.
This is a place I’d recommend to the young and seasoned traveller who desires a light more independent approach to hotel living.
On the last night after a gorgeous hosted meal and before a late checkout and transfer to the airport for our flight home, the girls took a night swim watching the Marina Bay Sands laser show from the rooftop pool. A completely surreal experience and perfect end to our time in the lion city.
