Lago Di Bolsena – Castle, Lake, Beach, Tea, Ducklings

Whilst driving through Tuscany to Rome and keeping consciously Off The Beaten Track, we happened to come across Lago Di Bolsena, and the town of Bolsena on the banks of the shore. Quite the holiday destination for Italy’s Domestic Tourism Market, we found numerous cafes, restaurants and hotels on the shore of the lake and stopped for a tea break and walk.

Felt like I was the first South African ever to put my feet in the water.

The Bolsena Castle that dominates the town, taken from the car as we arrived and before turning off to the lake. Note the little three-wheeler car, there are so many of them in Tuscany.
