On the R44 between Stellenbosch and Somerset West is a landmark farm stall known for its pick your own strawberry fields and legion of truly amazing ‘scarecrows’. I drive this road regularly, but ground to a halt earlier this week when I saw the naughty way in which some of them had been stacked – for want of a better word.
Rather up close and very personal, especially for local rugby teams STORMERS and BULLS! Had to capture it. Before they are given more space. Not sure if this is intent or coincidence, but its a winner for a giggle.
With an amazing backdrop, the shop itself offers a really good selection of wines, preserves, fresh foods and gifty products and even if it isn’t the season to strawberry picking, stop at Mooiberge for a walk among these seriously cool scarecrows.
