This is Dante Park between the Lincoln Centre on Broadway and The Empire Hotel where I was staying. Established by Italian-Americans in honor of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri, the statue was was erected in 1921 on the 600th anniversary of Dante’s death.

Just beyond the park on the corner you’ll find “The Falling Apples”, a Bronze Sculpture by Peter Woytuk.
