A while ago I was asked to contribute to the Edgars Club Magazine’s Live Smart Travel Postcards feature that looked at our earliest memories of childhood adventures. I just found this and wanted to share. What special memories they are, and how grateful I am to have them.

‘I grew up in the Free State where distance couldn’t factor into plans or we wouldn’t have gone anywhere. My childhood is filled with travel memories. Whether driving to Golden Gate, spending a day on the river or making our annual pilgrimage to the coast. Whatever the destination, my parents gave it a sense of adventure, a pile of eggie sandwiches and a flask of sweet coffee.’
