It’s no secret that South Africa offers an excellent setting, facilities and infrastructure for sporting and tourism events, as is evident from the success of the 2010 World Cup, 7 Rugby Tournament and annual Tourism Indaba.

That in mind, the much anticipated 6th edition of the Sports and Events Tourism Exchange has opened for registration, where exactly these points will be discussed and the booking of future events promoted. Hosted by the City of Tshwane and in partnership with the Department of Tourism, SETE 2016 will take place from 25 – 27 October 2016 at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice in Menlyn, Tshwane.

‘2016 will also welcome a new format for this three-day event which invites a variety of delegates representing senior decision-makers from the sports, events and tourism sectors mainly from SA and consisting of government officials and members of the private sector will be in attendance.

As with previous years a panel of expert speakers will share insights and discuss various topics that impact the South African sports tourism landscape – such as technology, sponsorship trends, golf tourism trends, travel behaviour and business opportunities associated with the 2022 Commonwealth games.’

I’m thrilled to be invited to attend as a guest speaker, showcasing the effectiveness of social media in building a brand, tourism, events and  campaigns.
