Switzerland – Imagine popping over to Italy for lunch.

That’s exactly what we did whilst travelling between St Moritz and the Ticino region in the South of Switzerland. Taking the Bernina Panoramic Express, we arrived in Tirano with enough time to walk the cobbled streets, enjoy a true Italian pizza and excellent cappuccino before boarding the bus that would take us to Lugano and onto Bellinzona where we were to overnight.

This three hour bus ride through Italy brought a change of scenery, olive groves, lavender plantations, vines and Tuscan villas … A beauty with a difference as we hugged the scenic Lake Como and Lake Lugano shorelines with their holiday feel.

For interest Lugano was recently voted the safest place to stay in Switzerland, safe to say, that makes it in the world.
