Kimberley. – During a recent visit to the City of Diamonds I had the great pleasure of spending two nights at the new four star Kimberley Anne Small Luxury Hotel.

It’s impressive from the moment you approach it’s modern exterior and are warmly guided into the basement parking with it’s beautiful tiles, wood and gilded touches. The entrance takes you past a very well stocked wine and bubbly fridge before you ascend by wide staircase to the beautiful reception area.

Double volume, designer finishes, natural light and impressive art await you, perfectly supplemented by the wide smile and gracious welcome of the team. You instantly feel at home.

From here it just gets better with the Kimberley Anne experience expanding to its 16 luxury suites which have been designed with one-of-a-kind furnishings, all of which were made bespoke to enhance your stay.

Each room has high-speed Internet access, a Smart TV and all modern amenities. One can instantly feel the stresses of the day melt away as the soothing colours, wallpaper and linen, as well as pillow library selection, all specially designed to ensure that you dream in comfort, come into play.

This is the go-to hotel for the modern African traveller.

The Copper Oryx restaurant offers fine dining with unique Northern Cape flavours infused into international dishes that showcase the delicious creativity of the Swiss trained Executive Chef, Stephanie Smith. From the moment you are seated, elegant dishes ensure a culinary treat.

The sunken dining room has a fireplace at it’s centre, and the double level is dominated by a gorgeous contemporary chandelier. The open kitchen offers insight into the magic and the serving staff are charming and well trained.

True to the region, breakfast is hearty and even has biltong on the buffet! Try the lemon meringue pie if you’re stopped for coffee in the afternoon, voluptuous and decadent, just exactly as it should be. Should you prefer fresh air, the outside courtyard has a selection of tables next to the plunge pool and water feature.

I loved that the dining room was always busy with in-house and outside guests (bookings are essential) and that on the one evening the Manager sat at the Baby Grand piano and skilfully and discreetly added his touch to the ambience.

I was there for pleasure and to be a tourist in Kimberley, but set that aside. Kimberley Anne have fast established a reputation for their state of the art conference facilities and focus on special occasion events and wondrous fairytale weddings.

There’s something incredibly comforting about a purpose built hotel that has thought of everything, especially for the frequent traveller. Add to that the natural touches of wood, metal and rich fabrics that blend with the surrounds and it completes the experience. The staff too astound with their wide smiles, friendliness and unfailing efficiency. They have together achieved wonders in the five months since opening.

Quite simply put, I can’t imagine you’d want to stay anywhere else when visiting Kimberley.
