Large European cities have various areas each with its own identities, and Rome’s Trastevere is recommended by all the guidebooks as the trendiest area and best spot for sipping wine at a street cafe, shopping at the street market and even taking in a live show in the piazza. We were not disappointed and after crossing the Tiber River found great pleasure in exploring this incredibly charming part of the city. Rome has a well-established water system and natural drinking fountains are found throughout the city where fresh spring water is available. What a treat!
