Uganda.  – Remembering my time in Uganda and the special visit to Frida in her village above Bunyonyi Lake near the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where we trekked to see those precious Gorillas.

The amazing 87 years old Frida is renowned for checking all visitors to see if they are ‘African woman’ enough, in her opinion I wasn’t 😉 She offered us lessons in basket weaving and how to grind grain, told us she’d been working the land and crops since a young girl, how her husband had to woo her and persuade her to marry him when she was 34! As she’d always thought she never needed man. They’d lived right here in the Bunyoyi Lake region ever since where she is still considered quite a phenomenal force by all.

Such respect for this woman. Some pics from my time with her.

After all, travel is about the people you meet and the lessons they bring you.
