Watamu Turtle Rescue. Kenya.

My week with the Local Ocean Trust: Watamu Turtle Watch allowed me to fulfil a long time dream of working with turtles. Emotional and inspiring, it was an experience that filled me with hope, yet at the same time brought to light the challenges that these protected species face. Working alongside the team who daily rescue, tag, process and release turtles caught up in nets or found to be ill or wounded on the coastline. Here is a look at some of the activities.

All this in the most beautiful Watamu village on Kenya’s East Coast. I recommend you look into how you can support the good work being done and consider a week or two here as an eco visitor. It guarantees endless lessons and feels good with the most inspiring people in a beautiful part of Kenya.
