Cape Town, the “Mother City”, as she is affectionately known, has been rated number two in Time Out’s list of 50 best cities in the world.

Located close to the tip of Africa, exploring this vibrant landscape, should be on your to-do list with these some of the things that make Cape Town one of the best cities in the world.

Cape Town offers adventure-filled activities almost everywhere you look! A must-do is Shark Cage Diving in Cape Town. Spend half a day in False Bay in search of the bronze whaler shark, also known as the copper shark, whales and common dolphins. The activity includes a light snack and refreshments, and if time allows, you’ll be taken to Seal Island, famously seen on the Discovery Channel. This activity is a traveller’s tour highlight and one not to be missed. To maximise your time in Cape Town, explore all four of Cape Town’s natural wonders in one day. Book the combo shark trip and land tour. The combo includes a private guided land tour to the hidden gem of Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, the spectacular Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point), as well as a sunset drive over Chapman’s Peak Drive.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony is a 5-minute drive from Simon’s Town and is home to over 2,000 African penguins and hundreds of other bird species. The beach itself is surrounded by ancient boulders, crystal blue waters and pristine white sand. Winding boardwalks make their way through the dunes and vegetation, offering guests an enchanting experience.

The world-famous Cape Point is situated at the southwestern tip of Africa, in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, a short drive from Boulders Beach. This World Heritage site is travellers must see with its unspoiled beaches, thriving biodiversity and grandiose cliffs. The park is home to an array of fynbos, over 250 species of birds, buck, baboons and Cape Mountain zebra. You’ll be spoilt for choice on picnic spots, paths on which one can set off on foot or mountain bike, and tidal pools on almost isolated beaches. If you’re looking to be served instead, there’s a great restaurant with the most spectacular views of False Bay!

After a day filled with adventure and adrenaline, wind down on a spectacular sunset drive along Chapman’s Peak. Located on the very edge of the coastline, the drive has simply breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean on the left and the overhanging green mountains on the right. The pass-first opened in 1922 and starts in Noordhoek, ending in Hout Bay. The 9 Km drive has 114 winding curves and with various lookout points to absorb the view and capture photographs.
